STA would like to thank the parents and students who participated in BLOC’s rally to demand that Governor Wolf restore low-income scholarships
“Pennsylvania is in danger of losing $150 million in philanthropic dollars and over 45,000 scholarships—the majority of which are in Philadelphia—if Governor Wolf does not take action.”
Yesterday parents and students from STA rallied, along with other students and families, in front of the Governor’s office at The Bellevue on Broad Street. The rally was an effort to urge Governor Wolf to stop blocking scholarships for thousands of low-income families. Parents and students are calling on the Governor to lift the restriction preventing companies from using tax credits to fund elementary and high school scholarships through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. If Governor Wolf fails to act soon, many students will be in danger of losing their scholarships.
